That's because they had a LOT more numbers, but were a LOT more undertrained than the Wehrmacht.

That may be but, the measure of victory is not in who wins or how quick, its who can inflict the most casualties. and if History serves me right the Germans obliterated a majority of the russian assaults, and the Russian required manpower, too over power a better trained German/Italian/Polish force
