@Hotshotawesome1 All people with diabetes should read " INSULIN-A VOICE FOR CHOICE" Have you read this book yet? It's good that people are talking about this with each other.

I have had brittle T1 for over a decade now (diagnosed new years day 2001). Started using a pump earlier this year and (especially as a a brittle T1) it's going to preserve, probably even save my life. Average glucose level went down from 280 to ~160.

My dad was diagnosed as type 1 at about nine. He was tired all the time, thirsty, crabby, and he had an absence seizure. The seizure scared my grandma so she took him to the dr. They did MRIs and everything on him and when they did a blood test, they found out he had Type 1. He doesn't do a pump. He's always done shots. When his sugar gets high, it almost seems like he regresses mentally and he gets cold and clammy. But that's rare because he's pretty good with his shots and diet. Good vid.

I got this disease on the day of my 5th birthday (11,11, 03)
Ive come so far in 8 years, but I am still scared of complications from any ketones ive previously had plus the seizure i had a few years ago. i am living a normal life and it is my life now and ive learnt to deal with it.

Sorry BandNerd, but you ARE born with it. You are not born with it immediately, but you are born with the genetic pattern that someday you will establish an autoimmune disease, in this case, Type 1 Diabetes. Thats what I was taught by my doctors, and thats the story I'm sticking with. Sorry for any confusion this video might cause.....
