the reason they run the 1/8th is because most of this is supposed to be a Southern-style Outlaw series, which is based off of 1/8th mile, unsanctioned tracks. Most of the guys running the series are 1/8th mile guys anyways, to me, 1/8th mile is just as interesting as 1/4, same as the 1000ft racing in Top Fuel.
I'm with frank & flex on this one......1/8th mile is a waste & the reason to run 660ft is because of safety.....well they do have frequent crashes in the adrl & running 190 to 200mph in the 1/8th aint no more safe than a prostocker running 200mph in the 1/4mile......so with that safety logic just DONT race at ALL.....that will be really safe since its all about safety.
I agree with flexfuel306 , it is silly to run ONLY 1/8th mile .....it looks like a National Event for Dry Hops......people can try & say that in the 1/8th you have to have a good light or whatever......its a bunch of garbage.....its lame to race a fullfledge racecar with a blower or 3-5 stage n2o 700 plus cubic inch motor ONLY 660ft.....boring
its all a matter of opinion. and by the way the crowds look, knowling got it right. but i share yo feelins on the quarter mile i grew up on that shit. but the fact of the matter remains nitrous cars are money eaters. 1/8 miles better for them. shannon, mike, jim and pat have alot of money. so does harold martin but he didnt see the point anymore with his new sponsor
They have bigger engines now. Nitrous cars ran the show at the 1/4 mile event (which is the proper drag distance i might add. 1/8th mile sucks) in Michigan. Castellana qualified #1, Halsey qualified #2 and they both met in the finals with Halsey taking it. Castellana ran a 6.00 in 2nd or 3rd round, quickest nitrous pro mod pass in history.
