Is that kind of handle really optimal for this exercise? When it comes to lat training, isn't it better to use an arched barbell that allows the elbows to go farther back?

@scottabelcoaching Maybe I'm overthinking, but I've noticed that when I do this exercise, my butt presses more against the seat when my back is extended. Doesn't that count as hip movement?
But since Kevin's butt seems to be doing the same movement, I guess I didn't do this exercise wrong.

@charlrogers1990 Well "yes" more or less, but man, try not to overthink so much of everything

If you lean forward as far as you can in this exercise, don't you involve your hips too much?

@kuddenchristo only if you move with them, leaning into it is just fine

@kuddenchristo Yes, overthinking I think. Give yourself time to get used to this style and it will feel more natural

One more question (concerning exercises in general, not only seated row) - should one accentuate the contracted position by stopping the movement for about a second in the contracted position (peak contraction) or just go like a piston - executing smooth, fluent movements without pausing neither in the contracted nor in the stretched position?

@biglabrador Good quesiton and while certain movements lend to that technique this isn't one of them. Keep em pumping on the seated row

Dear coaches - should one, nearing the contracted position in the seated row, pull the shoulders and shoulder blades back and DOWN (thus targeting lower traps and lats) or only back and maybe even UP (thus targeting middle traps)? The muscle feeling in both cases is significantly different. The first manner (I think this is the one on the clip) seems to target more lat width, whereas the second one focuses more on the upper back thickness, the area between shoulder blades.

@biglabrador Way too much overthinking it all here mate. Just row in the general line of action of the cable and you'll be fine. Way too many people get "trainer-itis" and want to turn each movement into some kind course to take or something. Keep it simple and explode on it
