Sydney, of all the great directors that come to mind, is perhaps the single most engaging and articulate in talking film and getting across the essence of what goes into making a film. I never tire of watching and listening to his interviews. He''ll always be remembered, thanks to clips like this one. Thanks for sharing.

What a great romantic period in American history to make a movie about! In that era, before the great pioneer migrations, back when brave mountain men daily risked life and limb, death from aboriginal hostiles, brutal winters, starvation, etc, back when the American west was still like it had been for thousands of years, yet full of many nations of native peoples and when Buffalo was still abundant. Great screenplay, very well acted. Can't imagine living that life, in that time. Special flick!

Jeremiah Johnson was called "liver eatin' Johnson and was rumored to have killed over 40 Sioux (or crow) and yes, ate there livers, remarkable that in later life he bacame a member of the tribe and married one.
He was NOT a very nice guy!!

The late Sydney Pollack was from my hometown, South Bend, Indiana, but was also famous for stating the best thing he ever did was get out of it....

A great film up there with the Godfather, one thats worth having as a two disk collectors edition if they were ever to get one together.

I love Jeremiah Johnson - I am always moved by some scenes in particular the one in which Jeremiah Johnson found out that the boy and the indian woman got killed. Robert Redford'as acting is top-notch. He's speechless and you can feel his deep pain and his face is so expressive. RR's performance is incredible. This film is very poetic in a way. Hi Tomcat ! lucky you you got Robert Redford to sign the original script. You have to tell me how you did that.I'd like to get something signed by RR.

Love this movie my favorite scenes are with Will Geer, how natural he was in the wilderness. This and Condor yes when they come on I have to stop and watch...
I have the Original Script to Jeremiah Johnson and recently had the luck of getting Robert Redford to sigh it for me when he was here in Savannah a few months back(doing the Conspirator)
