These 60-second broadcast spots, produced for the SC Dept. of Public Safety with our partners at Fisher Communications capture the look and feel of a popular television series within two fictional hours of a drunk driving arrest. Building on the success of last year's campaign, there's a new storyline that will run through the Fall 2011 as part of this year's statewide enforcement blitz.

@CJW921983: The DUI featured in the video is a felony. Initially, the victim is taken to hospital, with his being grievously injured, but subsequently dies. The British Crown Prosecution Service put out guidelines for sentencing for convictions for dangerous and impaired driving causing death. Both sets of guidelines set out aggravating and mitigating factors, which many jurisdictions use even if they apply different prison sentences for driving offences.

The video shows that a drunk driver is less able to assess risks than a sober driver. Countless anti-drunk driving videos say this message. This video is most similar to the "Transport SA - Drink Drive Twin Girls (Australia)" from the state of South Australia that shows a collision with a pedestrian. Too bad the "Stop! Think!" message from the Australian PSA does not resonate with this drunk driver before it is too late.

This guy deserves everything he gets, but seeing as how someone called the DUI hotline before he even turned the car on, you'd think the police would be able to get him before he ran over someone, especially given the "We're Watching You" nature prevalent in most things like this; if I were in law enforcement in SC I be offended by this ad.
