@mP51D I was there watching as well. They realized the danger and then canceled the Unlimited Golds as well. Thunder Mustang or Mustang, I WANT ONE!!

Can anyone tell me how much a kit would be for one of these as soon as they are being produced again? I'm looking into purchasing a Mustang replica when I'm older and out of college, and the Thunder Mustang and the Titan T-51 are the two that I would like to own the most...
The Thunder Mustang is probably a hell of a lot more expensive...since it has a V-12 instead of a V-6

Is that not only at low altitude they are evenly matched regarding speed..? I am inclined to think the real P-51 can go at least 100 mph faster at high altitude. Dont get me wrong, im totally in lowe with the Thunder Stang too :) It sound´s like a old big-block Chevy on steroids...

640HP and is faster than a real mustang

The Thunder Mustang is a 3/4 scale replica of the real deal P-51, and it has a Ryan Falconer V-12 instead of the Pachard-Merlin. But this one sounds sweet too with the higher revline :)

awsome mustang low pass! not only did I witness a low pass the mustang also landed and taxied right by me! I love the rolls idle(pops and farts)very very loud felt as well as heard!
There's no way it's faster than a real mustang at altitude. The merlin is supercharged. The TM is still way cool. I wish they were still making the kits.

You are correct. Below 10,000 feet the Thunder can run with and even outperform a stock P-51. Above 10,000 feet the P-51 comes into its own and becomes the legendary beast it is. Too bad there weren't Airshows at 20,000 ft, you'd see a much faster P-51 than at ground level Airshows. As for making kits, hold onto your hat as the comapny has been bought and is working its way back into production.

Aircraft was lost in mayday landing during super sport gold final at Reno Air Race on 9.19.2010. Thankfully pilot George Giboney walked away.

Just got back from Reno. I watched him disappear at the end of the field and then a large plume of dust rose. Short version - Blew his engine, turned into a massive headwind, lost height rapidly and never did get parallel to the runway. We couldn't get to him, within 10 minutes announcer said George was on his wing waving. When the plane cartwheeled the tail & engine had broken off, he was still in his seat but there was nothing left beyond his feet. 30 min later we're having a beer. WOW!
