The Government of India program called the Integrated Child Development
Services (ICDS) is one of the largest programs in the world reaching more than 34 million children aged 0--6 years and 7 million pregnant and lactating mothers. But even after more than 3 decades of its launch, ICDS has not been able to alter the emerging malnutrition figure. Does this mean that this large scale ambitious program which could have been instrumental in improving the health of mothers and children has failed in its objective?
Being the Change is a video on social audit on ICDS conducted by the community in Medak and Vijaynagarm districts of Andhra Pradesh. The process was facilitated by Aide et Action International (AEAI) South Asia and CARE India.
