The Lost Pyramids Of Caral 1 of 5
Making this BBC video available for educational purposes...
from http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/horizon/2001/caral.shtml:
"The magnificent ancient city of pyramids at Caral in Peru hit the headlines in 2001. The site is a thousand years older than the earliest known civilisation in the Americas and, at 2,627 BC, is as old as the pyramids of Egypt. Many now believe it is the fabled missing link of archaeology - a 'mother city'. If so, then these extraordinary findings could finally answer one of the great questions of archaeology: why did humans become civilised?"
A lot has been discussed since this was put out.
From Seattle Times (December 23, 2004): "A Peruvian site previously reported as the oldest city in the Americas actually is a much larger complex of as many as 20 cities with huge pyramids and sunken plazas sprawled over three river valleys, researchers report."
Construction began in 3000 BCE (300-400 years before the people of Kemet/Egypt began the Pyramid of Djoser). These cities flourished peacefully for more than 1,200 years.
Agriculture led to concentrations of wealth which became irresistable to theft which had to be defended against and so it escalated to warfare. The love of money is the root of all evil - and so-called civilization.

rrright... the reason why the Egyptian pyramids were build was because of war... And that the reason why they align with constellations is solely based on warfare. That would make alot of sense because i have none... I bock at this documentary, no need to see the rest.

ill tell you why people gave up the simple life - because they had to, because of land ownership, the new more aggressive type of human that was bred out of the city group, availability of food , and as the documentary says protection, if 2000 bc is the same as 6000 bc it was all about the quality of your shields - metalic woven clothing, spears and the power of the group you belonged to - as well as your ability to honer what you say

People would have been better off living in small villages, less worry, hardly any wide spread sickness, and no people with power to controll other's,the earth would be healthier.

@jacksawild Why can't you just be satisfied with the truth? The fact is, people in the Americas and people on Afro-Eurasia independently developed things like megalithic architecture and writing, and these things developed out of earlier precedents, like rock art and small stone dwellings. There is no need to posit transoceanic voyaging, especially as that only complicates things: why would the Egyptians, for instance, go to *west* coast S. America? And that's only one example.

@jacksawild Plato did not seriously suggest Atlantis - that was rhetoric in Timaeus. Plato makes plain that this Atlantis is fictional, and a fable, and that was believed by everyone to be the case until a crackpot in the early 20th century popularised the idea of it being real. There is no convergence in the building of megalithic structures. Bear in mind, too, that a pyramid is an extremely easy and natural structure: all one has to do to gain height is to, in effect, pile material up.
