Thats awsome, it gives me hope for my great dane "Ivan". His brother magoo is like a fish, loves the water, but Ivan will only go up to about his chest. They are 2 1/2. Hope i dont have to wait 5 years for my dog to enjoy the water like Honey.

I just love seeing how small she was when she was a puppy! It is amazing how quickly the large breed dogs grow. I love that she finally swam and I love all the sub-titles! Too funny and cute!

Any Advice?
I have a 5.5 month old Dane who Hates the water, everything from the lake, swimming holes, rainy days & ESP the bathtub.
However raining days are not as bad as they once were as we started walking longer during raining days which have made it easier to get him in the yard.
However I will continue to work on it like you have done in your video, which is very well done, & hopefully reach the same goal as you or at least be a little dry after a bath.

I think every dog is different - unfortunately, most Danes I know are not water dogs! I think just continuing to do what you are doing - don't force or rush your dog but don't reassure or mollycoddle excessively - just be very matter-of-fact and "make" her deal with it but set up lots of chances for her to have positive interactions with water. Anytime she is calm & not showing fear near water, praise & reward her. In our case, Honey LOVES her tennis ball and braved the sea for that! :-)
