@asofyett:As long as the loop goes over the neck,hands should be ready to tighten up the garrote easily.

Just a tip it helps to lower your center of gravity and put your knee in there back this will stretch out the lungs and make breathing more difficult, not to mention nearly impossible to get out off because it's their strength vs your strength + your body weight.

@6pwner:Yes it can;It can cut into the neck & make a Pez dispenser out of your victim.Big game fishing line can do the job as well.

would it be better or worse if you crossed you hands before putting it around their neck and then pulling apart?

Would there be any advantage in dropping the garrote around their neck in such a manner that to tighten the garrote you pull your hands apart rather than crossing them?
