I directed high school choir for years. To have the ability to perform this piece well at the college level is expected. At the high school level is nothing short of a miracle. Yes the men (boys) could improve on many points, but the blend and ensemble execution is admirable. Also, it's astonishing to me that there are youngsters willing to sing such a masterpiece.....they must have an awesome teacher.....congrats kids!

Hey, you want to hear bad intonation? Check out the Youtube by Coro Polifonico; the ending a half-step lower than the beginning!

Ok, I think some of you are being too hard on this group, particularly on the boys. Remember they are high-school students, so their voices had changed only recently. It can take years for male voices to mature! The composer marked the tempo "with tranquill motion but not too slow" so I'd say it was just right at the start; didn't like the slow-down towards the end, though. Intonation was stable -compare the beginning with the end. American pronunciations? Where are you from???

mean comments, i thought they were alright, especially for a high school

I absolutely agree with satBASS. The female voice parts had a great sound for most of this piece. The males, however, were overcome with nasal. With a little work at expelling the American accent, this group could have given a truly exceptional performance. The pure tone is there... it just needs a bit more guidance!

Good interpretation...a bit fast in the beginning, but to each his/her own. The speed didnt bother me so much as the placement of the male voices...wow, i've never heard an entire section of a choir sing nasal. It was hard to hear that, because the female voices have such a nice sound, then the guys come in & its a let down. Work on gettin rid of the american pronounciations as well. Other than that it was a good performance
