Aretha Franklin and Bob Seger were two of the artists who recorded at GM Recording Studios on E. 9 Mile in East Detroit, the city now known as Eastpointe. This studio contained an 8-track reel-to-reel recorder. GM Recording Studios opened in around 1970. They also had a record label, GM, named for owner Guido Marasco and no relation to the car company of the same name. The building now houses the Recording Institute of Detroit. This is a brief point-of-view walk through the studio and control room as it looks today, which is remarkably similar to the way it looked when some of Detroit's biggest acts recorded here.
