A simple flame made in after effects

Edit:
Sorry for the (VERY)late reply..
the comments don't seem to work so I'm posting my reply here instead..

It was made using a basic particle emitter and an animated fractal noise for the displacement map.

I've uploaded the project files here if you want to have a closer look at it.
http://files.filefront.com/flameaep/;10185444;/fileinfo.html (old link replaced since my host have mysteriously gone offline)
(note it's made in AE cs3, so it may or may not work with ae7. I don't know, honestly..)
(also note I used a plugin called trapcode starglow for the coloring so you'll need that to view the project correctly)

It's probably not the best way to create flames in AE really but I didn't have much experience with AE at the time I made it and I figured it turned out quite well anyways :P

Ps: thanks for the nice comments, by the way :)
Also, I suggest you check out http://www.videocopilot.net/
There are some really nice tutorials there

  • How to make fire in After Effects: Import stock fire footage

  • @MLBuckProductions Probably gonna have to agree with that..

  • Thanks! but I got one problem : s the flame is white and black not red : ( please help me!

  • @Felixfors That's because I lazied out and did the colouring in trapcode starglow rather than using the built in tools. If you try reading Shipuh's instructions down below I believe you can get the same sort of look as the original (heck, maybe even better!).

  • have you ever seen fire?

  • @nakedvolleyball Indeed I have and it looks nothing like this if that's the point you are hinting at. This was mostly for fun and to see how well I could actually make it considering I had only just learned after effects at the time.

  • Well, I make it in particleworld. If not, then i just import fire footage.

  • File Not found??

  • import the flames it says cant import file

  • Thank you!!

    I tried this out.

  • @nakedvolleyball M8, realistic fire is IMO the hardest thing to simulate. Also, it was not done with Fume FX plugin but in AAE in which it is very hard to make realistic fire.

  • aww sweet man i used this in my videos thanks

  • Thats a nice fire :D
