Please watch in High Quality! On Oct. 6th we were driving back home from a weekend of visiting Eva and Jill (Shadow6326 and ladyluckny). We stopped at this magical place, The Circle Museum on Rt. 22 in Austerlitz, NY.
Once home I tried to find out more about the place and the artist by searching online. I found mere snippets of conversation, including the following:
If you've always wanted to visit a sculpture museum that evokes an auto body shop (and really, who hasn't), here's your chance.

The Circle Museum is a registered Columbia County Museum consisting of over 100 large-scale works of sculpture. In this location for 25 years, Bijan Mahmoodi is the owner of the museum and the artist. His art reflects his fascination with hard-to-find Industrial Era fabricated metals and bronze casting. Inside the artist's studio, also on the property, is a collection of Bijan's oil paintings that explore the circle motif you see in most of his sculptures.
Why is it called the Circle Museum? Bijan explains... "Because our planet is based on the circle - the sun, the planets, the moon and life itself is cyclical. The circle is what inspires me."

We didnt go inside, but now I wish we had. The artist, Bijan, was friendly and had a chat about high fuel oil costs and cold weather on its way. But he was busy welding, as you can see from my video, and didn't mention we could go inside. I asked if he sold his work and he said, Sometimes, but times are rough and people don't buy art, they buy gas and food.
Isn't that sad? Art shouldn't be something only the prosperous enjoy. Maybe that is why the Circle Museum is free and all are welcome. Purchases and donations are accepted.
The Sculpture Park was wonderful and we'll go back again. Next time I want to go inside and see his oil paintings.

The rainbow at the end was fantastic. I told Rafe to stop by the side of the road and I got out to shoot it. I've never seen BOTH ends of a rainbow! Where's the pot of gold? There was none as far as I could tell. Instead, there was a field of gold!
Looks amazing! I love abstract art....

What a cool museum! I love that kind of stuff. I have a few metalwork dogs and a cat in my house. :D Oh, the rainbow is just wonderful with both the beginning and end in a field of gold!! Thanks for sharing your visit to the Circle Museum!

Thanks for coming along for the ride, Judy! I love Outsider and Folk Art. Especially when people take discarded items and make something usable or beautiful from it. Maybe because my mom ingraind the following in my brain: "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without." :-)
