I had decided to film at GCG today to get what I thought would be the last train to cross the A474 under the watchful eye of Mike Moodie and his staff. However on arrival I was greeted by the train running early and preparing to cross the road under the protection of the new lights, and under the supervision of the Engineers. All went well and another moment passed in the history of this fascinating line...noisy, but interesting....Bob

  • Hi Bob, just curious.. do you know what the purpose of the white light facing in the direction of the tracks (beneath the flashing red lights) is for? Many thanks, Ciaran

  • @fireeater999cmcc It's a calling on signal for the train crew to proceed over the crossing Ciaran....Thanks for watching....Bob

  • @robmasterman The Network Rail were testing all the electronics during this operation....Bob

  • that's not too bad a siren.i remember when level crossings had warning bells though, think im showing my age!

  • @Amandamoo73 It does spoil any attempts at filming anywhere near them, the old crossing gate keepers opening the gates by hand were far more friendly to the ears...Thanks for watching...Bob

  • nice video!!! to the number of minutes a train passes through here? and narrow country without considering many barriers?

  • @daantjep10 There is one train every day from Monday to Friday, and there are about 5 barriers on the Branch line...Bob

  • ok thanks!

  • @ oh fair enough, they are expensive at 20 grand a piece!

  • @lanegane1 There is only one service each way Monday to Friday, so the cost of gates was excessive....Bob
