Music is Walking in the Air, sung by Peter Auty, who appears on Howard Blake's soundtrack of the 1982 cartoon The Snowman, based on Raymond Brigg's 1978 book of the same name. I have no rights to the music, however the video is copyrighted 2010 by Flying Laundry LLC.

This music, sung by a young boy, simply captures the magical feeling of youthful wonder we get to experience in this amazing sport. The lyrics so perfectly describe my experience and feelings, I have to share them with you:

We're walking in the air
We're floating in the moonlit sky
The people far below are sleeping as we fly

I'm holding very tight
I'm riding in the midnight blue
I'm finding I can fly so high above with you

Far across the world
The villages go by like dreams
the rivers and the hills
The forest and the streams

Children gaze open mouthed
Taken by suprise
Nobody down below believes their eyes

We're surfing in the air
We're swimming in the frozen sky
We're drifting over icy
mountains floating by

Suddenly swooping low on an ocean deep
rousing up a mighty monster from its sleep

We're walking in the air
We're floating in the midnight sky
And everyone who sees us
greets us as we fly

Enjoy!

PS: as a result of final editing at 3:30 in the morning, I overlooked listing one of the pilots. Scott should appear in the credits, along with the others. My apologies for the oversight.

Chase cam is not of my design-- I stole shamelessly from info provided in DoronDekel's video at

  • Hi, Thanks for posting the video. Very well done. May I ask where Is the chase cam attached ( trailing edge? How far left or right of centre cell? How long is the line attached from the wing to the cam?) Thank you for your time Brett

  • @WorldsBestGamer

The line is about 12 1/2 feet long. I use a neon yellow braided nylon mason's line. It's fastened with a small locking metal oval at the trailing edge where the brake line is fixed to the wing. Each wing is different, but I try to use the attachment point at the approximate point where the stabilo changes angle to blend into the horizontal part of the wing.

  • Nice chase cam setup.... mind sharing a few details on the construction of it??

  • @1980airhead

I've posted a link to DoronDekel's chase came construction/demo video at the bottom of the video description section. Urls aren't allowed in the comment section.

  • I can never get enough of watching the videos, this one came out really nice. It's still a great video even though I didn't get listed at the end. lol. I can't wait to get back out there. I want to fly with the chase cam again with smoother air. Scott

  • @DMANROCK1

Scott OMG - I can't believe I missed putting your name on the list! Mea culpa!

I probably shouldn't try to finish editing at 3:30 in the morning, anymore. Please forgive my oversight. I had other video of you, too, that just didn't fit this song. much of the chase cam stuff I have of you is either too dark, or too bumpy. It was very active, that morning!

  • Great video. Awesome pictures from the chase cam, great editing, and superb music. Thanks for sharing.

  • An award should be given for this video.

  • Beautiful video bro... Chase Cam is awesome.... MrTom423

  • Great Vid Kevin, Stuart - Singapore

  • another great vid, chase cams worked great adding more angles!!

  • @FlyingLaundryLLC Very satisfying to know I contributed something! I'm still not happy with the roll stability of the chase cam, especially when the air is a bit unstable. I have a couple of ideas of my own to try, but am also interested in other people's suggestions, so feel invited to share.

  • @headonz

The chase cam is a Kodak Playsport HD1080. $120 at Sam's Club, here in the states. It's waterproof to 3m, shock resistant, and will shoot 1080p/30, 720p/30 OR 60fps, or WVGA. Shoe cam and helmet cam were the GoPro Hero HD. Most shots were at 720p, some at 480. I could have uploaded at 720, but my computer can't quite keep up with that. The Kodak camera does NOT have a wide angle lens-- so the chase cam footage accurately captures what it's really like to be up there, flying. :-)
