President Roosevelt describes to reporters how the American grizzly "embodies the spirit of America". One of the most profound and insightful things I've ever heard spoken about the American character, in a film anyway.

  • The more famous bear hunt occurred at Onward, Mississippi with guide Holt Collier, where the bear cub was spared after the mother had been killed, inspiring the cartoon which gave rise to the term Teddy Bear.

  • @whobuddy1 The Mountain men! awesome film

  • the man hit it right on the head, Course i didnt like the part about calling the Eagle a dandified vulture. Milius is one of the best screenwriters of the age

  • Very insightful and very true. Milius' script aptly described the American experience in this scene, the more remarkable since this film came out at the end of the Vietnam war.

  • What an awsome actor! Does anyone have The Mountain men? Mr. Keith is great in it!
