Each year "Friends Beyond Borders" organizes several trip to the Dominican Republic focused on understanding the roots of extreme poverty and related social justice issues. In this clip, Ginger speaks about the day we spent at a garbage dump.

Every student was paired with one of the people who live and/or work at the dump, getting by on the few pennies they can earn from salvaging plastic. Before that day, we had all heard about the Earth's many people who live on less than one dollar a day, but now theses people were more than statistics to us. They had a name, a face, a story.
