http://totallyawesome.com Paramotor comparison Paramania Fusion vs Ozone Speedster vs Antea 2 from Sky Paragliders. Powered paragliding review side by side test. In this comparison the Antea 2 from Sky Paragliders blazed on by the Paramania Fusion and was a bit faster than the Ozone Speedster. Numerous deaths have occured on "reflex" gliders as they are known and because of piles of money spent in marketing on these uncertified wings most people don't know what they are really getting compared to other wings as they don't have much data to go on. All 3 gliders in this comparison are EN-C certified at trim speed and marketed as EN-C gliders. The Paramania Fusion and Ozone Speedster though which are called "reflex" wings cannot pass any level of certification in "reflex" mode. Most people don't realize the huge loss of safety by flying these uncertified wings and even fewer realize they can get a fully certified wing like the Antea 2 which can indeed be fully accelerated in it's certified configuration and since it also out performs the less safe wings it makes no sense at all to sacrifice safety. This is no small difference. When a reflex glider collapses the results are so violent that numerous people have died. Even one safety test pilot trying to conduct very basic safety tests in a controlled enviroment died after the Dudek Nucleon glider collapse and went into such a violent spin that the pilot loss conscieness. Any certified glider would have almost for sure recovered on its own but "reflex" gliders are our worst nightmare because they CAN'T pass any of those life saving certifications. So the pilot died after the glider never recovered. What's worse that is often when they collapse the pilot has zero control to either prevent the collapse or help the glider recover where a good certified glider keeps the pilot in full control and even in a collapse the pilot often has full control with which to drastically improve the outcome of the scenario. Now if people realized that certified gliders often have much better performance as well like you see in this video it would be an easy choice to stay away from the uncertified "reflex" wings.

Sadly the pilot flying the Paramania Fusion in this very video only days later took a collapse, the glider reacted exactly like you see in the video and he tumbled all the way to the ground and hit upside down and was unconscious for an hour and forty five minutes. It is miracle he lived to tell the tale. He reportedly ordered 3 certified gliders immediately following that incident.

  • erm, the antea certification documentation states that the certification to ENC was achieved ONLY with trimmers set to 0cm...

  • @ppgnutter Yes the Antea 2 is a fully certified glider. You can FULLY accelerate it with speedbar only. You don't need trims like uncertified reflex gliders. So you get all the safety but waaaaaay better performance as well. It is a seriously sweet wing too. I cannot even comprehend how anyone could fly a Paramania or Dudek reflex wing. The feel and handling is so horrible it doesn't make sense how anyone would fly one for any reason despite the terrible safety and poor performance.

  • I'm just starting my ppg training in the uk and will shortly be looking to buy a motor and wing, I am interested by these comparisons that you have done, were they independently verified? If not were the all up weights, wing size, trimmers engine size, fuel load, rpm etc etc all the same? If not I would say the comparison is worthless.

  • @MrConkeydock Also for training you should really travel to where the best pilots are since there are no qualified instructors in the UK that I'm aware of currently. So if you travel to the US for training you can not only get much much better instruction and a lot more of it due to more consistent weather conditions but then you can take the gear back with you on the plane and save quite a bit in shipping. It costs less to fly to the US then to do it there. Just call 801-631-1731

  • @BrianTurboT Yes I've done the video but I haven't posted it yet. The Reflaction is only a couple mph faster. Kinda pitiful for an uncertified glider. If you go uncertified class you should get way more performance like that. The Eris III RS and Morpheus are still the king of the wing for speed. Nothing touches them.

  • @imasuper0308

Ummmh .. yes ... thought it might be.

Just how much faster do you reckon your uncertfied Reflaction Reflex paraglider is (both flown with 'normal' wing loading)? .... have you had the chance to do a 'side by side' video comparison, Reflaction v Antea 2 yet?

  • @MrConkeydock We carry all 3 brands so we don't care one bit which one is better. You don't want any of these though, as a new pilot you would want the K2 for the additional safety. The K2 is much better than the Fusion but a touch slower than the Ozone Speedster equals for equals. Drop to a smaller K2 though with a bit more wing loading and it is faster then the Speedster as well but still waaaaaay safer. So the K2 would definitely be the wing we would recommend for a new pilot.

  • that's helpful thanks for uploading that

  • @BrianTurboT The Reflaction is faster than the Antea 2 which you would expect from an uncertified class glider. The stupidity is buying uncertified class gliders that can't even beat super safe certified wings. I have no idea why people would even consider the wings from Paramania or Dudek that can't pass ANY level of safety certifications and have terrible performance as well. It makes no sense. Hopefully this video will help people see reality.

  • @imasuper0308 Quite a few people fear a collapse but that is one of the reasons zero people have ever died on WPPGA certified equipment. Like the inflatable play land kids jump on a paraglider can absorb incredible energy but then pop right back out. The certifications mean it will pop right back out quickly and with very minimal change in course direct. If it can't collapse then instead of tucking to absorb energy it could flip over which is far worse. Collapses are good. Recovery is key.
