Democracy Now! - democracynow.org
Since his death this week at the age of 69, veteran U.S. diplomat Richard Holbrooke has been remembered for a storied career that includes brokering the 1995 Dayton peace accords that ended the war in Bosnia. But little attention has been paid to his role in implementing and backing U.S. policies that killed thousands of civilians. Independent journalists Jeremy Scahill and John Pilger are interviewed by Democracy Now! to discuss Holbrooke's record in carrying out U.S. policy in Vietnam, East Timor, the Balkans, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Scahill says Holbrooke "represented the utter militarization of what is called 'U.S. diplomacy.'"

  • I had forgotten all the sh#t this guy was part of. Thanks Democray Now...

  • they invaded iraq, got rid of sadam & created a shadow govt which is exactly what they always do. any country that refuses to be a part of global control is defined as dangerous, portrayed as such by the stupid ass media & attacked. the purpose is to control the political system, banking system & media of each nation using the pretext that it will create a more peaceful world. no one believes this just as i didn't used to but i've seen enough to now know that it's true.

  • Scahill is totally right, Rachel Maddow's piece on Holbrooke was disgusting, she should be ashamed of herself. No mention of East Timor for the entire show.

  • Holbrooke was a MONSTER !!!!!!!!
