Plot Summary:
28 years ago, aliens made first contact with Earth. Humans waited for the hostile attack, or the giant advances in technology. Neither came. Instead, the aliens were refugees, the last survivors of their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africa's "District 9" as the world's nations argued over what to do with them.

The tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when an MNU field operative, Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), contracts a mysterious virus that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Ostracized and friendless, there is only one place left for him to hide: District 9.

I mean, nobody knows if they come with peace or to destroy us, we can't take the risk to welcome them with music and flowers and then they start to destroy everything on their way. Every weapon on Earth should be locked and loaded, waiting for the smallest "wrong move" of the aliens

@softan In fact we have much more advanced weapons, than the weapons shown in sci-fi movies. The reasons those weapons are not used are: 1. They are too expensive and military governments prefer to use the "old school" weapons that are cheaper 2. Wars in our days does not mean mass destruction like WW1 and WW2, it is all about controlling territories and resources now

@softan You are wrong from strategic point of view. If they attack us it would be because they need our resources, or they need another planet to live on. Which means they will try not to "harm" the planet, but just kill us (no weapons for mass destruction). And if we are on the brink of extinction, I'm pretty sure we will use all the fire power we have, even if it means self destruction - "we die but you come with us, bitches" *rain of nuclear bombs*... + don't underrate the secret weapons ;)

I wouldn't dare to treat the aliens badly in ANY way. If they had the technology to get here they probably have the technology to annihilate us. I wouldn't expect us to stand a chance either like in the movies. They'd probably just destroy us from orbit. If they got here once maybe others will come.
