Yepp, it is totally true, there is no way of knowing exactly what went on. While highly unlikely, hypotheticly the Santa clause himself could have created the first life in his workshop.
However you got the purpose of science all wrong, it is not about unquestionable "truths", science is all about creating from the observed facts as accurate and plausible models as possible from which one can use in predictions of future events or tasks of engineering with as great accuracy as possible.

DID HE JUST PUT THAT STUFF IN HIS MOUTH?! LOL

@kenitzka10 I did indeed read your comment in its entirety and attempted to address the spectrum you presented. The fact of the matter is as I said: it's not what we cannot disprove, it is what we can prove—period. I can tell from your thought process (as conveyed) that this is your hang up. Plus you're trying to claim that intelligence can exist without mass or time—which is both absurd and asinine. Science has killed the concept of god. Read Grand Design - Stephen Hawking—it's game over.

@YourBrainOnReligion I'm not sure your read my comment at all. Did you? Let me reiterate. The best we'll ever achieve is an empass. This isn't about proving and disproving because as I have stated "You assume we can find God using the rules of this universe and that you can even comprehend God". You cannot prove or disprove that which exists beyond our universe.
I don't think you understand what I mean when I say that humans may not have the capacity to comprehend everything.

@kenitzka10 It's not about disproving - that is where your thinking has gotten backwards. It's about PROVING. Just because I merely CLAIM there is a 50 ton diamond burried in my back yard because it makes me feel good to THINK I'm rich - that means absolutely jack shit in this world until said diamond actually is proven to exist. And that's just a diamond. The saddest part is you can't tell the difference (or even begin to grasp why) the question of god is 100x more important than a diamond.

@YourBrainOnReligion You assume we can find God using the rules of this universe and that you can even comprehend God. Your god is your brain. Science will never be able to disprove a Being that exists beyond the rules of the universe using the tools within the universe. I believe the best you'll ever achieve is an empass... you cannot prove or disprove God. You can only say that you have using what you know now--unless you know everything there is to know about everything

The "warm pond" hypothesis has been replaced by the "Hot Thermal Vent" hypothesis

Darwin was so insightful, imaginitive, perceptive and ahead of his time.. that he would've thought of a "warm little pond" 150 years ago when even now we don't have a clue on how life began.

no wonder he stopped going to church..:)

@BBMix Not only have we not found god, we've never found a single shred of evidence that would suggest "he" put his mark on anything. That ultimately disproves god any way you slice it.
A lack of evidence for god may not in itself be evidence he does not exist, however, it is clear cut evidence that continuing to believe he does is absolutely illogical. It's really quite simple.
Thank you for posting this though - this has to be the best documentary I've ever seen.

Even if abiogenisis was a proven fact that still says very little about God a person can't just dismiss God because of the chemistry of life forming. There are probably some Christains that beleive God used abiogenisis. People are making it too simple this is a very complicated concept. h
It cannot completely discredit the creator, mainly because any idea of a god is technically unfalsifiable. The evidence for evolution is stacked firmly in the scientific camp as it does not make any supernatural claims, where as religion does make these claims. I am personally more than satisfied that religion or god is debunked by incredible modern science which has peeled away nature to reveal reality as it really is, and they have never found god yet.
