This is a vintage Wagner Woodruff exit sign that uses two preheat F8T5 tubes with FS type starters. This is cool because its fun to watch the two preheat lamps blink on, not to mention being able to bet money with a friend which tube will finish first. This sign has a cool retro font instead of the basic font of modern exit signs and it is designed to be recessed into a wall for a more trimline appearance. Much cooler than the boring exit signs of today. I did make one modification though. The original plastic was very dim so I swapped it out and used pieces of a cut up transparent green Filexec binder in its place which is the reason for the crosshatch design that is hard to see on this vid. Enjoy!

Yes, they still make F8T5 starters.

I find that European standard and US standard are worlds apart. We still use starters and magnetic ballasts common as muck but it seems to be extinct in the US and what's common is the rapid start etc....COOL!
