Sea Life Aquarium, located at the LEGOLAND Resort in Carlsbad CA, is an experience like no other. Designed to be a child's first interactive guide to the life under the sea, they provide fascinating educational talks and opportunities to have up close and personal encounters with a variety of sea creatures.
Their premier exhibit is a 290,000 gallon walk-thru aquarium which measures 18 feet deep and has a stunning variety of sea life including sharks, stingrays, fish, and of course - Legos! The aquarium was illuminated with 6,700 watts of metal halide lighting which was approximately $5499 in annual electrical costs.
Teaming up with Ecoxotic, Sea Life removed all of their metal halide lighting and replaced them with 8 of our 50 watt 12,000K Cannon LED pendants. The results were beyond all of our expectations.
The Cannon LED pendants not only greatly increased the over all illumination, they cast a very crisp white light throughout the entire exhibit - making the water look extremely clear with stunning shimmer. Sea Life's annual energy cost have now dropped to approximately $394 - an estimated savings of $5105 per year! Not to mention - no more metal halide lamps to replace every year and the overall reduction in carbon footprint.
Next time your in sunny California with the kids, make sure you visit Sea Life park and Ecoxotic (our show room is quite close!) For more information on the Cannon LED pendants, please visit www.ecoxotic.com.
So will i be able to use one of these on a 120 gallon tank if it can replace 2 400 watt metal halides?

@MrFiat124Spider NO - there is a difference between replacing halides with LEDs on large tanks like this versus reef aquariums. Cannon LED pendants penetrate deeper in water vs. halides with visual light, so they are a great replacement on large tanks. On a 120 gallon reef tank, you would need to use 5 of the 50 watt pendants to replace your two 400 watt halides.

@goodtimes928 Not everyone thinks so - this is at Legoland! Kids love them.

Is it true that only half of the halides were on when this video was shot, and that a majority of the lamps were over two years old? 20Ks are also the least efficient metal halide lamp at only 30 lumens/watt max, and since they may have been nearing their end of life its difficult to get a good comparison. Anyways, great video, and great product, I have yet to use the Cannon but have seen them in person. Also looking forward to the 100w version.

@MkeFishguy Hi Mike, you would need to ask SEALIFE at Legoland in Carlsbad those questions. The number of halides used and total wattage were given to us by them.
