I'm not the costume fairy, but I am the prop fairy for the girls' high school play (my friend, the costume fairy, sent me this link and I had a good laugh). I've made wheels of cheese out of polyurethane foam coated in candle wax, and a whole library out of cracker boxes covered in furniture fabric. Oh, and we have no budget. And they keep asking for these outlandish requests. And I keep saying yes. I think I must be insane.

OMG - someone recorded one of the MANY conversations I have had with people "learning" to costume. I about peeed my pants I was laughing so hard. I swear I've heard everything in this video more than once!
