@vegasbaby92 though I agree with you on this. It is from The Wiz but Gleelooodoyle's reference point if from the musical "In the Heights" not "The Heights". "In the Heights" is a very good musical an you should check it out if you have not already.

there are few glee performances that truly bring me to tears.
this is one of them.

Yea you won't hear many women sing that last note. Incredible.

WOW! Kristin Chenoweth is the best singer out there. She can sing anything and sing it very well. Such emotion in that angelic voice - Love It! The "Cheno note" on the end is superb. Her stage show needs to be put on DVD. Hey PBS/Sony -It would be a hot seller. --- A song has no better friend than Kristin Chenoweth!

The first time I heard this song, I absolutely adored it, but I didn't know what it was from. Then I joined a community theatre production of "The Wiz". Then I saw this episode and when it got to this song, I was like "HOLY SHIT! THAT'S FROM THE WIZ! OMFG!" Our opening night is tonight. Wish us luck!

@Gleelooodoyle - OMG Gleelooodoyle, I can tell you're a young person, your reference point is "The Heights", from the 90's right? Which I know to you is probably really old. But actually, this song was first featured in the Broadway musical, "The Wiz" way back in the year of 1975, sung by then, 15 year old Stephanie Mills, I was 1 years old. :)
Then 3 years later, in 1978, Motown bought the rights, & made a full length feature adaptation. However in the movie, Diana Ross sings this song.
