A series of four displacement reactions:

1. Copper Sulphate & Iron
2. Silver Nitrate & Copper
3. Copper Oxide & Magnesium
4. Iron Oxide & Aluminium (Thermite)

These are educational videos in which the experiments have been carried out under strict safety controls. Please DO NOT try these at home. Be safe in practicing your Chemistry.

  • with the magnesium + copper oxide explosion, why does the room go darker for a few seconds after the flash?

  • @undefined208 I expect it is the camera adjusting to the bright flash of the magnesium displacing the copper oxide!
