@crazy4corbinbleux Well, Michael was already super rich before Thriller. He was still collecting royalties from previous albums he did with the Jackson 5/The Jacksons and from Off The Wall. The Jackson 5 was a very successful group, so of course they had a lot of money, especially Michael. Even his brothers were rich. They all had their own lavish houses, especially Jermaine, who had a ranch. Even before Thriller was released, he had Hayvenhurst rebuilt into a Tudor mansion.

Sooo.. i've always had this question. How did MJ jump from being the solo artist who had the Off The Wall album, to being able to create a music video with John Landis "Thriller" which was (at the time) the most expensive music video ever made?? Like, prior to that, he wasn't really the biggest thing-- infact he was mad cause he didn't get many awards or get noticed as he should've for Off The Wall. But then two years later how did he manage to get the money/sources/etc. for the Thriller video?
