So during the course of this series of uploads, while I try to ease back into the recording, writing, and uploading cycle, I'm actually toying around with a somewhat different compression technique...and while I don't think it'll show through too much in an 8-bit game, it would be helpful if anybody spots any weird distortion and lets me know, but I'm actually pretty optimistic about this, since it'll drastically cut my upload and processing times.
Now that we know the basics of how to play, let's jump right in to the first stage where you might actually stand to lose a life...as unfortunate as that might be.
You've got to jump over instant death pitfalls, and you've got to contend with a few nasty hazards and some fiercer enemy opposition, if only slightly so.

Mission 2: At the Heliport
I'm not really sure what manner of heliport we're dealing with, but apparently it's only accessible by jumping from rooftop to rooftop. Either that or the Lee brothers are really into high-altitude parkour.
An interesting quirk in the behavior of enemies is that they won't move unless they've got a target at their current platform level or are at least able to navigate to that level via a ladder or a simple jump...although this does create some interesting situations, like those two goons sitting on the second rooftop. I failed to take them out in one fell swoop, but that's not really a big problem. You may notice that the second goon didn't actually do anything, since Jimmy wasn't present, marking him completely oblivious to Billy's movements and attacks.
Jimmy just didn't want to accidentally send me careening into a death pit...because he gets no credit for my death if he does...the crafty fellow...
Besides the killer death pits, basically all you've got to worry about is a one-time attack chopper (Why only one? Don't you want to be rid of those pesky Double Dragon thugs?), a new weapon type (in the hands of the thug-ettes), one new regular enemy type, and a new boss in the form of what I can only really describe as...thug-ninja...?
I actually rather like this stage's music, even more than most of this game's soundtrack.
So is the mission telling you that you'll never make it?

@Overhazard I had always kinda assumed it was evidence of the brothers Lee interrogating one of the anonymous thugs that they had only brutalized and not yet killed...or disintegrated.
I suppose it might make sense if they're in so much of a hurry that they're not even going to bother looking at their victim once they get their answer and time appears to be of the essence...they're in need of REVENGE!
