I have been installing vinyl siding for seven years now. I really appreciate how easy to understand you video is. I'm going to point new guys on our crew to this video!

Thanks Shannon for sharing your knowledge. I am about to buy a house with this type of siding. There are a few windows without the J-Channel. And I'm a do-it-yourselfer BIG-TIME. I learned a lot by watching you put the siding on.

hey can I caulk vinyl siding?
1011maximiliano 3 months ago
@1011maximiliano It really depends what you are trying to do. Because vinyl siding moves a fair bit with temp. changes through out the day and seasons, caulking it at the joints or something like that will be a bad idea. But if you are just trying to caulk the J channel to a window or door frame you should be OK.

Canadian...I can tell by the way he says 'out' "oot" and 'about' "aboot"...
great video!
Why did you not tape the wrap to the window flange?
josephvelder 3 months ago
@josephvelder Ah good eye! I did forget to tape both of those windows that day but did tape the wrap to the "J" channel before completing that siding.... And yes I'm Canadian eh. Thanks for the comment.

@HouseImprovements will the j trim still move freely if you tape it to the housewrap
lipton4453 3 months ago
@lipton4453 The j trim being smaller does not move nearly as much as say the wide sheet of siding so taping it is fine. Tape is not holding it as solid like the nails would if they were driven in tight.
