As a judo orange belt, I was able to own Aikido black belts with relative ease. And they would just make lame excuses after I did.

He has respect for arts which train with aliveness, which includes Judo or Kyokushin. What he doesn't respect so much is the idea of a rigid rank structure or a "sifu" or "sensei" who considers him/herself above sparring and training with their students.

I'm kinda curious why he doesnt ever mention Judo or Kyukushin-kai,or San-Da for that matter.

i agree with aliveness..all the way, but there is nothing wrong with ranks, and certificates..it gives the student something to strive for..

indeed. Check out the "Dog brothers" who came up with the phrase. If you enjoy what Matt Thornton has to say then you will probably dig them as well ;)

Dog Brothers is as real as it gets without killing your oponent.
