  • As a judo orange belt, I was able to own Aikido black belts with relative ease. And they would just make lame excuses after I did.

  • He has respect for arts which train with aliveness, which includes Judo or Kyokushin. What he doesn't respect so much is the idea of a rigid rank structure or a "sifu" or "sensei" who considers him/herself above sparring and training with their students.

  • i agree with aliveness..all the way, but there is nothing wrong with ranks, and certificates..it gives the student something to strive for..

  • indeed. Check out the "Dog brothers" who came up with the phrase. If you enjoy what Matt Thornton has to say then you will probably dig them as well ;)
