Dominique Strauss-Kahn a été arrêté à New York le 14 mai 2011, soupçonné de l'agression sexuelle d'une femme de chambre dans la suite du Sofitel New York Hotel, de Manhattan. Suite à cette affaire, DSK est écarté provisoirement de son poste de directeur général du FMI.

On 14 May 2011, police officers removed Strauss-Kahn from an Air France plane at New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport moments before takeoff to Paris, and arrested him for allegedly sexually assaulting a hotel maid in his suite at the midtown Sofitel New York Hotel shortly before leaving for the airport. He was held at a police precinct overnight. According to Reuters, the NYPD anticipates that he is to be charged with "a criminal sexual act, attempted rape, and unlawful imprisonment". Strauss-Kahn denied all the charges against him, pleaded not guilty, and agreed to a forensic examination.

Grund ist die Anschuldigung einer Hotelangestellten, die behauptete, von Strauss-Kahn sexuell attackiert worden zu sein. Er wurde von der New Yorker Staatsanwaltschaft wegen versuchter Vergewaltigung, sexueller Belästigung und Freiheitsberaubung angeklagt

El 14 de mayo de 2011 fue detenido en el aeropuerto JFK de Nueva York, acusado de agresión sexual a una trabajadora del Sofitel New York Hotel de Manhattan. Permaneció detenido en la comisaría del Departamento de Policía de Nueva York en Harlem, donde fue acusado de «asalto sexual, intento de violación y secuestro». Sus abogados, Benjamin Brafman y William Taylor anunciaron que «se declarará no culpable».
