  • @45jacobite Indeed, the song is the "Old 1812 Quickstep". For another version of this song, listen to the opening title for "the Outlaw Josey Wales". The actual sheet music for the original tune can be found in "the Old Fort Snelling Manual for Fife"

  • the tune being played is the '1812' Quickstep. The fifer is playing it in the 'lower' key so its sounds low pitched. It can be played higher and this is bettrer as it can be heard above the sound of the drum. I also play the fife and used to be in the 33rd foot back in the 90's.
