"Chi no hate yori tatsu (Depart From Land's End)"

And beautifully
Spring arrives
Colouring the nonchalant sky in vermillion
Fast as the arrow, deep as the root
I will make it out and outright
Without misapprehension

In endless days of struggle and strife
I'm grieving over the end of the world
Until I get wings
To chase the wind
To touch the rainbow

And purely
Vapour melts away into rain
Out of the mist I exhale
Everytime I sink into the Negative
I follow the hand that wipes off the dark
Without any doubt in the least

I'm intoxicated in the clouds of darkness
And in the sea of oblivion
And abandoned to sorrow
Until the day comes when
I'll rot back into ground

Insignificant as I am,
Or even inadvertent in the sun, and
Without guarantee for a life in a warbler's nest,
Yet just as I am, the one and only,
I shall go aloof and alone, all by myself

In endless days of struggle and strife
I'll be grieving over the end of the world
Until I get wings
And chase the wind
And touch the rainbow

Very gently
The green sprouts out
Whose will, strong and untainted, pulses under its temples;
Hope I'll stay aware of it all the time
As well as unmistaken at anytime -
At anytime, without any doubt, whatsoever

The lamentably underrated Japanese indie pop band of the 90's: Hachino's often dark yet faintly hopeful lyrics are ridden with idiosyncratic, almost surreal, images; his vocals are androgynous and ageless, as if of everyone's inner child; and once-heard-never-leave-your-ear tunes are superbly crafted and perfectly played. Back in the early 90's they released two 7" vinyl singles, "Stay Still" and "Strings", performed in Japanese, from Sugarfrost Records, an independent label in Liverpool, only to meet critical acclaim from NME and Melody Maker.

In Sep 2011 part of the band released their third single June Song under a moniker of Livingstone Daisy. Angelic, unworldly vocals; warm, gentle tune; and lyrical, evocative words - a pure gem. Available from iTunes US, Canada, Australia, NZ & EU.
