i just love how hannibal flirts with this beautiful woman. and it is so funny how oblivious she is. i just wonder, if he never left italy, and she and hannibal formed a romantic relationship? just something to think about.

For me its a defining point in this movie.
Its the moment when the inspector realises that without any doubt that Hannibal is onto him.
However, he persists due to greed and meets his demise.
Here it also shows in the same moment Lecters alerted senses, almost as if his madness/genius goes hand in hand with some sort of sixth sense.

Its pure genius

Hannibal: He can romance a foreign lady in front of her husband, persuade men to peel off their faces, elude the FBI, and cook live human brains. What more could a man hope to accomplish in life?
