what's amusing is that here we have a senator that has been swimming in the cess pool of Illinois politics. this farce of a senator probably doesn't even know where Iraq is. He's never been to Iraq either. His real name is Dick Turban!

There is uses for everything, the filibuster is one of those things.

Yes, someone pointed out that the filibuster is useful in stopping the appointment of a bad judge to high court. I still see the filibuster as the difference between what we have done for healthcare and what the other western countries have been able to do. Durbin is talking AGAINST the use of the filibuster by threatening another filibuster.

The majority isn't always correct. This is true throughout all of history. Congress needs more impassioned pleas and less people just voting with the herd. We wouldn't have gone into Iraq if there were more senators who had one iota of true conviction.

Time to do away with the filibuster. We don't need a minority of the senate blocking legislation that a majority of the people, the House, the President AND a majority of the senate wants to pass!

VERY proud of my Senator (I'm from IL). HELLUVA speech. 73% of the American public thinks the war in Iraq was a mistake and wants us OUT of there. Only a few idiots - like patsagainstrats - still support our Torture President and his illegal invasion of Iraq. And those idiots all share the blame and the guilt, along with our War Mongering, power-grabbing President.
