did you notice that viking with the spear and sheild near the ending of this number at the left side of the stage? and yeah, I dunno if Michael ever bothered to research these histories and plan this dance differently, but the music and dance sure is fun to watch.
Are you suggesting that we should accept that Americans know nothing about world history and it's pointless telling them the truth?! Ok, that's a fair point. I love when they tell me I'd be speaking German if it wasn't for them...I even met an American who wanted to join the front line fighting the British here in Ireland. Good luck finding it...
Entertaining to some, I find a lot of it insulting. For example, in the Bloody Sunday one they show tanks, which were not present and the guy is kicking a soccer ball at a G.A.A. match!!! Maybe you have to be Irish to get as wound up as I do but there's something about British soldiers in wigs and redcoats fighting the Irish in 1916 that I feel does an injustice to people like my grandparents who lived through that time.
I have a feeling it was never meant to be historically accurate - he's just using known Irish symbols as a way of people looking at it and thinking "They're dancing in Ireland!" ... Remember; the audience knows nothing... they need things to be pointed out like this.
I just wish to God if he was cashing in on Irish culture that he could spare a few quid and get an Irish historian in.
There's a nice snapshot of Quin Abbey that the Vikings are dancing in front of. The Vikings arrived 600 years before that. For you Americans, that's the equivalent of going to see a film where the director has allowed Christopher Columbus have a cellphone!
i thought vikings didnt have horns ... or are they the vikings from Bulgaria ? did Celtic vikings have horns?

It's what they get for quoting "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" at me.
