Here is some archived footage from BNSF's Seatle Subdivision presented in split screen. There should be eight trains in this video package.

What editing program did you use?

  • @CarNutandTrainNut2 Final Cut Express

  • That was really different. I think I have to go with overload crowd

  • @ervans well maybe I might set up a similar video in a differnt fashion maybe A role bye of a train from different angles. My thinking behind the design of this package was instead of making folks wait 15 minutes to watch a single screen video package, I could cover the same amount of footage in 3:35 minutes. Also I was thinking sometime if I get footage in Portland, Spokane, and Seattle I could show the rail action in the different cities all at the same time.

  • @wsuraifan Sounds like some good ideas. I do think it could also work on some of my straight on steam videos. To have four at once.

  • @ervans very true, two points that I want to make is one I have never done this before, so I figured that I would try it. Two I think people are not use to watching a four way video, they are not common on youtube, I think if these videos were more common or more of them were uploaded, peoples eyes would get used to monitoring four screens, and this format might not be so foreign to the eye. I do have to admit that I can take fifteen minutes of footage and squeeze it into a 3 1/2 minute clip.

  • @NapierNimbus thanks I will keep this in mind.

  • thanks very much for posting and must have taken some putting together and visually very impressive.

However I prefer just viewing and hearing the one train as I really enjoy hearing the train approach from the distance, hearing the exhausts getting nearer of the hard working diesels and those great American train horns if there are road crossings ahead then watching the train pass by - its huge length and often amazing variety of consists in the one train

  • @JonGrant4472 sounds good. thanks.

  • @pwalpar Thanks it was not easy to produce, it seems to be drawing mixed reactions. Some folks feel that it is Censory Overload to much going on with four screens. Others like it. When what ever the general concensus is...I figured it would be something new to upload.

Been sitting on this footage and concept for quite a while and that intro, from your package from 9-22-11 spurred me on to release something like this for better or for worse.

    Thanks for the kind words.
