This is a longer duel, first to 25 hits (technically we count down per hit). As usual I'm a big fan of footwork although I'm still in need of improvement (I'm the really skinny guy).

  • are those wooden?

  • @xeldinxatos: They are hardwood doweling with a layer of foam padding. The padding allows for a bit more force without injury, but only a bit. We've had some good injuries.

  • is this LARP-ing?

  • @RogerEB3:

No, it's more of a simlified sword fighting group for people that dont want to take it too seriously but still have fun. There is no role playing nor character creation.

  • this looks very similar to what i used to do only our group used to use re-enactment blunt steel which was fab, our scoring system was upper limbs and torso only points were arm=1, leg-2 and torso=3 and the 1st person to 10 wins that bout, after each point returning to on guard stance. we also had to keep combat inside a 20foot diameter circle.

like the video but yes you could do with paying more attention to foot work as there were a few openings due to over balance that i noticed.

  • We usually use first to 5 hits, regardless of the location. This one being 25 hits is what some of us use as a warm up to get the blood flowing.

Because I've fought this guy a number of times I knew when I could be less concerned about certain openings and afford to be slightly off balance at times. I fight a little more cautious against other people, and even more so when the hit limit is 1.

We had a fight to 100 hits once and that took more than 5 minutes. That was exhausting yet still fun.

  • exactly. these men are fighting with one blade at a time, and the other sword just hanging around. the proper way of using dual swords is to not see 2 swords, but to use them as one sword

  • Dual wield can be a lot of fun and quite an advantage....eventually. However a lot of people start out with two before they're good with the one. I try to incourage people to get at least half as good with there off hand than there main before trying two. I'm about 80% effective with my left on it's own than my main.

  • I wouldn't use such long swords for dual weilding... at least have ONE shorter one in my opinion

  • Бгг, поролоновые мечи. Бойцы не умеют ни двигаться на ногах ни наносить достойных ударов.

  • what the diffents to beating the shit out of you and larping

  • @Malarious also no safety goggles

  • no offense intended and I read that you find footwork very important but as a practiser of wushu I must say that I find your stance very unstable looking during the fight. Keep training and you will get there.

  • If I were to dual wield, a style I am more comfortable with, I would rely not so much on brute force as I would on speed and agility. I'm not physically strong, but I'm fast. Unfortunately I am also a shitty fighter, but despite that, I can still say that this fight was less based on style and technique and more on randomly swinging the blades around and hoping one will hit.

  • If i was dual wielding fighting, I would use brute strength over my opponent.

  • @Malarious

    Or technique, apparently.

  • this looks fun

  • No agility no clear moves, no technique just swinging.
