Brookergeddon: a series of classic articles from celebrity misanthrope Charlie Brooker's previous incarnation as a videogame "journalist", compiled, edited and read by some guy. 100% unofficial and unauthorized. Contains strong language, adult themes and bat-fucking.
Episode 12: Outlaws. I didn't expect to make another of these, but I felt I had to. The last issue of PC Zone ever came out today. I'm in it, incidentally; I wrote them a letter when I discovered they were dying and they were so taken they printed it and gave me a prize, a big pile of whatever games they had lying around. Anyway yeah, take a look: mine's the most embarassingly sentimental and poncey letter. As a bonus. you'll learn my real name.
Anyway who gives a fuck about me, this is about Charlie and the magazine that plucked him from stoner cartoonist obscurity and made him into an actual writer. PC Zone, and Charlie in particular, was the constant background hum of my adolescence and its slow death under Future Publishing was tragic to see. They went out today with Batman on the cover, which is as good a way to show defiance as any. Requiscat in pace.
Outlaws came out back when LucasArts had literally never made a bad game, a record that ended as soon as the moneymaking engine of the Star Wars prequels was invented. It was their second first person shooting game and one of surprisingly few with a western theme.
thanks for this video. keep an eye on my channel for something good bad and ugly soon :D
