On this day in 1965 {April 21st} the Shangri-Las performed "Out In The Streets" on the ABC-TV program 'Shindig!'...

Eighteen days earlier on April 3rd it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #53 and spent 6 weeks on the Top 100...

Between 1964 and 1966 the group had eleven Top 100 records, with them of them reaching the Top 10 and one peaking at #1 {"Leader of the Pack" for 1 week in 1964}...

The Shangri-Las sound of the mid to late 60's had an influance on the R&B/Funk-Soul sound of the 70's & early 80's. Parliament Funkadelic, Cameo, The Whispers, all followed this 60's pop/soul sound, but 10 years after this was done, the R & B Groups followed this sound. This was real Pop/R & B back then.
