  • What is the name for the hdd hard drive you put in the Ps3?

  • @danielrob98 Pretty much any standard 2.5" SATA notebook HDD can be used. The specific drive that I used was a 500GB 5400RPM Western Digital Scorpio Blue drive.

  • how much was the 500 gig drive?

  • @tonyali02 I think I spent like $85 for it ('twas a while ago)... it's currently $75 on NewEgg.

  • Have you maid a hackintosh?

  • @theiPodone That's something I haven't done... partially because I haven't had a need and partially because the process seems no more interesting than softmodding an old Xbox. lol

Besides, if I want to get frustrated at an OS, all I have to do is fire up an old version of Debian ;-)

  • How about Linux on your ps3?

  • @TVanderbeek Sony states that it'll backup most everything except copy-protected data (e.g. purchased movies/music) and trophy information. They also recommend manually backing up anything you deem important in addition to using the backup utility just in case the utility misses it or fails to restore properly. Trophy information can be backed up onto your PSN account.

Also, USB storage devices used during backup must be formatted in FAT32 to be recognized by the PS3.

  • @aspirecomptech Eh, I only shave once a week... it's all gone in the last shot of the video where I'm reminding everyone that they can ask questions via Twitter as well as e-mail.

  • I'm thinking of installing a larger hard drive in my PS3. What items will be backed up and which will not if I use the PS3 backup feature?
