Itäs not Mahou Shoujo in name. They take most of the common Mahou Shoujo themes. It's just that they let it take place in a far more serious and realistic world than what's usual for the genre, hence the somewhat different plot development.

@Jellyfishkc People should try start saying "MY FAVORITE SO FAR!!!" but that wasn't the point, this series could be said as the "Evangelion of Mahou Shoujo". It's basically only mahou shoujo in name like evangelion was only mecha in name(SPOILER!!!!)

@CodenameBourbon Well, that's just like your opinion, man. I really like both, Evangelion and Mahô Shôjo Madoka Magica, but I dislike that video. And btw, my comment and this video have been posted before the show was finished running on TV. At that time Meguca was all hyped up and I was pissed off by all those "BEST ANIMU EVAR!". There is no best anime out there, since taste differs. If you like both, that's cool, but combining them for no reason makes no sense to me.

@Jellyfishkc Aside from Madoka being a girl and not a boy, the song and its lyrics fit perfectly.
Not only to the series as a whole, but also to the video. "Aoi kaze" during the rain scene (with the blue bubbles or raindrops or whatever that's supposed to be), "hohoenderu anata" right when Madoka smiles, "fureru mono" when they touch, how can you not see that synchronization?
