Banjamasin in South Kalimantan (kalimantan Selatan, Indonesia) is known as the Venice of South East Asia. A journey along the canals, in the company of many smiling high fiving kids, is a great way to spend an afternoon.

  • Another side of Indonesia. It's worth to post a video like this. At least, it gives a lot of reflection of our life.

  • I've travelled in a lot of countries, but the people of Kalimantan are the most friendly/honest/kind I have experienced. Life is hard, there are so few tourists travelling there, I really recommend travelling there.

  • I was in Banjarmasin for some days, where I admire the sound of 'sape'. Your videos show much more what's inside. It's like they call me to come back again... que des beaux souvenirs...

  • so this is what its like there.very good video. :]

  • I'd be worried about the kids getting caught in the propellars

  • I was born in a city named Banjarbaru, about 36 km from these canal. It's not as artistic as Venice, but I'm sure the tourist who goes to this canal would like it, it's very unique place (with wood-made houses upper the canal and very friendly people; all of them will smile to the tourist!). Near this canal, in the morning at 3 am up to 7 am, there's a traditional floating market, they use 'jukung' (kalimantan motor boat). And in Ramadhan month (Islam) there will be boats carnaval! Love it!

  • I'd like to live there :-)

  • Mungkin beginilah kehidupan aku kalau moyang aku tak berhijrah ke Malaysia suatu masa dulu....

  • perkampongan ini pernah ku lalui semasa kebanjarmasin 13thn dulu...

  • nice video....theres a lot of canals in Banjarmasin...for the next 20 years..it will be change like a venice
