This video shows the steam-up and run of a little "Live Steam" Train. It is in HO Scale, using denatured alcohol as fuel. You can find more info and pictures on my website: http://wolfie.venturesinmedia.com/
You can buy denatured alcohol in stores like Home Depot or Lowes (Sometimes in the paint section). I never tried lamp oil, but it will probably not work, because it does not have enough energy and it would mess up the boiler with sooth.
The meaning of live steam is that the model loco actually runs on steam like a "real" steam train vs. electricity that is usually used to power model trains.
Where do you get denatured alcohol? What do you use to run it? Can you use lamp oil?
