I made these doggy booster seats out of sponge rubber. As you can see it takes up the whole back seat. I have made it modular to suit changing situations. The base has that loop material that lets velcro stick to it and the arms have wide velcro on the bottom and the back. This allows me to move or add arms. Half can be taken out for when a large dog joins us. I turn the top layer and the arm around and it slips into the leg area giving the large dog plenty of room to sit forward comfortably.
They all have seat belts. I also made the side arm rests quite thick and shaped. It helps provide extra safety from side swipes, allows them to look out the window without hurting themselves or the car.
