On a damp November day, the volunteers at the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum fire up ex-Monson RR 0-4-4T #4 for a trip down the waterfront in Portland, ME.

Includes cab ride footage. Thanks again Mike!

  • After locating an old Western Pacific caboose out in California, this certainly adds to the day. Very artistic shots. Kudos to the engineers, they seem to run the engine professionally.

  • Talk about the little engine that could.. nice video.

  • @amusedtodeath3478 Isnt Massachusetts just as salty if not saltier than any state or city on the West Coast? Be kinda silly to switch a train or anything that can erode for that matter to switch it from one coast to the other. Its gonna get salted regardless

  • They should bring Bridgton and harrison # 7 back to edaville when its restored. It spent more time in operation at edaville than for the railroad it was origionally built for. It needs edaville just as much as edaville needs steam.

  • how long was the ride

  • The MNGRR has undergone major changes regarding changes in leadership and restructuring. Furthermore, the museum suffered a fire that destroyed a number of tools and damaged #7. We need your support to keep steam alive! There are very few active steamers left in New England in 2010 (6 that I can think of). Visit mngrr.org and buy a membership and/or donate to the #7 fund today!

  • heck yeah and it will put more business at Ediville like it used to be.

  • anybody have any good video of last years Polar Express event?

  • I agree with you. The organization is considering options for a new home with better facilities. If you have any positive suggestions I strongly recommend you help the museum out. They are always accepting new volunteers and private contributions. The banknote originally taken on the equipment when they bought it all from Edaville (to keep the equipment together as opposed to being sold piece by piece in auction) has been burdensome. Now that it is nearly eliminated things can change.

  • I keep reading in railroad related books that the back cove bridge was burnt circa 1984. But my question is what exactly happened, i cant find any info on what exactly happened.

  • I was there 12 years ago, and it was mint! That's where I got a souvenir Thomas The Tank Engine train, and I still have it LOL! I wish Nova Scotia had old trains running like Maine does.
