It always makes me sad when I see big healthy trees being cut down. The heart of this tree seemed fine, there was no rot.
Would it not have been possible to trim it back instead?

It was an Arizona Ash that had already dropped two large limbs and posed a threat to my car and roof. It has been replaced by two different species of oak trees that are currently flourishing in the same general location. It was a good decision as far as I'm concerned.

The guy who cut it down said Arizona Ash smells like dog crap when it is burned. The other kid took some for campfires but said he was only going to use it on windy nights.
