  • too many problems with the nature form of the branches??? what is more perfect than the nature???

  • @alexcostacurta

Please feel free to let your trees grow naturally...I prefer to practice a craft where I get to decide what the tree looks like. Just letting a tree grow naturally is not and will never be bonsai. If you spend time looking at natural trees there is certainly much beauty but very little perfection in terms of bonsai.

  • Awesome Video. So could I use these pinching techniques on a Japanese Juniper Bonsai? Or are there other methods?

  • awesome video i understood what you were doing even when you were not talking

  • Fantastic, i realy like this tree, do you have pictures on internet? please send to me!!

  • .... more flat.

  • wow... I really liked what you did to the foliage. I just recently baught a pre bonsai and wanted to know if they can be exposed to direct sun? and if the pinching should be made when the summer is over or can I do it at any time? Thanks!

  • @jgeanangel

I've been growing bonsai for over 25 years and I've noticed a trend towards a very 'artificial' style in the West. Too much blindingly-white deadwood (I've actually seen some Western 'experts' suggesting white paint mixed with lime sulphur !) and severe over-pruning/pinching. Many of the Japanese/Chinese styles are rigid, true, but they tend to keep the jins and sharis grey, and much of the pruning is done to maintain the health/size of the tree (as you know).

    Blame Hollywood !!

  • i just bought a juniper from a store, and the the parts where they branch out the branch are brown , should i cut the pieces off that are brown and let it grow out again?

  • do you trim the roots of a tree in a growing pot? I.E a sapling I've had in a large pot now for 4 years, its adult foliage hasn't come through yet

  • @alexcostacurta don't forget there are different styles to bonsai the Japanese have a very formal style's with lots of rules while the Chinese art is a little less ridged with a bit more room for expression
